If the runner encounters an active piece of ICE, they can use their installed icebreakers to defeat the subroutines on the ICE, else the subroutines activate (some subroutines will just end the run, other subroutines have more interesting effects). the corporation has the option to 'rez' each piece of ice to turn it face up & make it active (99% of ICE will stay face up and active for all subsequent runs after the rez cost has been paid once).

An example turn for a Runner would be to spend their first click to play an event ("Easy Mark" - gain 3 credits), their second click to install a piece of hardware (Desperado - console, +1 memory, gain a credit each time you make a successful run), their 3rd click to install a program (Sneakdoor Beta - :make a run on archives, if the run is successful, treat it as a successful run on HQ instead), and their 4th click to use the ability on the program they just installed to make a run on the Corp's Archives - if the run is successful, they'll access cards from the corporate players hand, and their newly installed console will generate a credit for the runner.ĭuring a run on a server, the runner approaches each piece of ICE protecting it, in the order the cards are placed. There are 3 things a Runner might install - a program (such as an ICEBreaker, used to cancel subroutines on ICE protecting corporate servers), hardware (such as a memory chip to give more capacity for installed programs) and resources (such as a 'side job' that allows the runner to click for more money than the default click for a credit action).

All cards installed by a Runner are installed face up. Typical actions are drawing a card, gaining money, installing a card, playing an event or starting a run on a Corporate server. The Runner has no mandatory draw on their turn and has 4 clicks to spend.

An example turn for a corporation would be their mandatory draw, then for their first click, play an operation card (in this case, it'll be "Hedge Fund" - spend 5 credits, gain 9 credits), then their 2nd click will be to install a piece of ICE (which are like software firewalls) facedown to protect a new remote server, and their 3rd click will be to install an agenda facedown in the 'root' (below where they put that facedown piece of ICE) of that new remote server. A corporation always has 3 locations that are considered 'central servers' (HQ:their hand, R&D:their deck and Archives:their discard), and can create additional remote servers by installing cards (ICE, agendas or assets, and upgrades) and any server can be protected by ICE (which are placed horizontal). A corporation always installs its cards facedown (and discards cards to their 'archives' facedown), so the Runner does not know what they will encounter. The Corporation has a mandatory card draw at the start of their turn, then 3 clicks to spend performing various actions such as installing a card, gaining money, spending money to advance an agenda, drawing a card, or using an operation card to do something nefarious. Both players have a hand limit of 5 cards and must discard down to 5 cards at the end of their own turn. The goal of the Runner is to steal 7 points of Agenda's or have the Corporation be forced to draw a card from their deck with no cards remaining. The goal of the Corporation is to score 7 points worth of Agenda's or cause the runner to discard card more cards from their hand than they have (a "flatline" win). Each match is a set of 2 games, with the players alternating between playing their "Runner" (hacker) deck vs opponent's Corp deck and their "Corporation" deck vs the opponent's Runner deck. The setting is the near future, with the moon and mars colonized, a space elevator, and ruthless corporations based on the "Android" universe that FFG uses for all their cyberpunk games (kinda William Gibson, kinda Blade Runner). Tutorial VideoĪndroid: Netrunner is a cyberpunk theme asymmetric living card game from fantasy flight games (this is a reboot of the Netrunner card game from the mid 90's, the cards are not compatible, but sometimes a very similar card to an old card will be released). TL DR: Card game of cyberpunk future hackers vs corporate servers. Since the board game thread requested a dedicated thread for this game, here we go.
